Vips fastest in Misano Q2
Jüri Vips set the fastest lap in a rain showers affected second qualifying at Misano circuit. With the best time of 1:46.004, the Motopark driver claimed his second FIA Formula 3 European Championship pole position of the season.
Prema Theodore Racing’s Marcus Armstrong ended up second, 0.065 seconds down. Race one winner Mick Schumacher finished on third, ahead his team mate Ralf Aron.
In the ranking of the second fastest laps to determine the starting grid positions for the third race of the weekend, Armstrong was first from Aron, Vips and Guanyu Zhou.
Championship leader Dan Ticktum, will start the races from the ninth and seventh position.
“The pace was good and I am happy to be on pole“, said Jüri Vips, “Too bad that I was held up on my second fast lap as the track got faster and faster in the closing stages.”
“My radio didn’t work and therefore, I was unable to understand what my engineer was telling me“, commented Armstrong, “Then, I just went flat-out. Qualifying was great fun.”
