Vesti takes third win of 2020
Frederik Vesti handed Prema Racing its seventh win of the 2020 FIA Formula 3 season at Mugello. At the same track that crowned him Formula Regional Champion last year, the 18-year-old scored his third win of the season to confirm a highly-successful trend. Starting from the third spot, he waited patiently to make his move. First, he cruised to P2 and then started battling with Jake Hughes, trading the lead with his contender before taking to P1 for good on the last lap.
American Logan Sargent finished sixth in an eventful race which also saw him touch the gravel in a couple of occasions. Sargeant made the most to maximize the score, as teammate and main championship rival Oscar Piastri was called to a difficult recovery from P16 on the grid. The Australian gained several positions but eventually crossed the finish line in P11, one spot away from P1 in the reversed grid for race 2.
He and Sargeant are now tied for the lead in points. The final race of the year will decide the outcome of the whole season with Sargeant starting from the fifth spot and Piastri six positions back in P11.
