Ticktum claims pole
Dan Ticktum claimed the first pole position of the FIA F3 European Championship season on the Pau street circuit. The Red Bull junior driver – who won last year the Macau Grand Prix – set the quickest lap in 1:10.013 piloting the team Motopark’s Dallara/Volkswagen. Behind him finished Guan Yu Zhou with a margin of only 0.009 seconds. The Prema Theodore Racing’s racer topped in Group A in his powered Mercedes car.
In less than two tenth from Ticktum finished Carlin’s Ferdinand Habsburgh, who took the second row alongside Ralf Aron (Prema). In the second Group Habsburgh was followed by Robert Shwartzman (Prema) and the two Hitech drivers Alex Palou and Enaam Ahmed.
In Group A behind Aron finished the Carlin drivers Sacha Fenestraz and Jehan Daruvala, while Marcus Armstrong (Prema Theodor Racing) rounded out the top 5.
Mick Schumacher, who set the fastest time in free practice, hit the barriers at the Foch bend.
