Tang wins Timaru Herald Trophy
Singaporean Andrew Tang claimed his second win in the Toyota Racing Series at Levels Raceway, Timaru. The Neale Motorsport’s driver dominated in the Sunday afternoon’s 20-laps feature race ahead of Briton Jann Mardenborough and Kiwi James Munro (in picture).
16-year-old Munro, who set the fastest time in Q1, has won the first race of the weekend after a spectacular crash in the first corner caused a red flag and took definitively out Levin Amweg, Matteo Ferrer, Macauley Jones, Denis Korneev, Martin Kodric, Michael Scott and Tang. M2 Competition’s drivers Steijn Schotorst and Egor Orudzhev finished on the podium.
On Sunday morning Mardenborough won his first ever single seater race with a flag to flag victory. Estonian Martin Rump was second and regained the championship lead. Egor Orudzhev was 3rd, but Russian driver in Race 3 was forced to the pit on lap eight because of an engine problem.
After two out of the four rounds of the 2014 Toyota Racing Series, Martin Rump leads with 329 points ahead of Mardenborough (321) and Orudzhev (282).
