Florsch completes Campos Racing line-up
Campos Racing signed Sophia Flörsch as last addition to its drivers’ line-up for 2020 FIA Formula 3 Championship season. The 19-year-old German female racer will team up with Alex Peroni and Alessio Deledda to complete a talented roster of young drivers.
Flörsch made her debut in karting in 2005 and competed in numerous championships across Europe until 2014. The German youngster stepped up to cars in 2015 when she entered the Ginetta Junior championship, in which she became the youngest driver to win a race in the series. Flörsch also achieved another milestone in the 2016 ADAC Formula 4 season when she was the first female driver to secure point-paying finishes.
More recently Sophia made headlines when she suffered a massive crash in the 2018 Macau Grand Prix. After undergoing surgery, the German driver made full recovery and contested the Formula Regional European Championship last year. For her 2020 campaign, she will work with former GP2 driver Facu Regalia, who will work as her driver coach throughout the season.
Flörsch will get her first outing in a Campos Racing-run Dallara on March 1/3 in Sakhir during the collective testing held by the FIA Formula 3.
“It is a great privilege to have Sophia in our ranks“, Adrián Campos said, “She is one of the most talented drivers and a true example of perseverance.”
