Shin joins JHR Developments
JHR Developments has announced that Michael Shin will be joining the team to make his car racing debut in the forthcoming F4 UAE Championship season.
South Korean karter started racing at the age of 12. Despite having fun, it was only when the Covid pandemic struck that he reflected on his passions and decided that motorsport was the route he wanted to follow. Realising that he wouldn’t be able to progress further at home, Michael made the brave decision to approach teams racing in the United Kingdom, researching them himself before asking his manager to contact JHR Developments and setting the ball rolling.
The teenager has taken part in several test days as well as a handful of free practice sessions as he works with Callan O’Keeffe’s School of Send coaching programme to get himself up to speed with Formula 4 machinery. School of Send, meanwhile, helped Matthew Rees clinch the Drivers’ Championship and Rookie Cup in the F4 British Championship this year for JHR Developments.
The F4UAE season begins at Dubai Autodrome in January of next year, alongside the Dubai 24 Hours, before taking in 20 races over five events at the venue and Yas Marina Circuit, when a new champion will be crowned. It will also be the debut for the new Tatuus T-421 race car, powered by the turbocharged Abarth F413T engine, which will also feature in the British series later in the year.
