Schirò, Teixeira join Auto GP at Paul Ricard
Less than one week after the opening round of Marrakech, the Auto GP Series comes back this weekend at the Paul Ricard circuit.
After the first two races, Kimiya Sato (Euronova) is lining-up as the championship leader with 40 points, 14 more than Super Nova’s Markus Pommer, with whom he shared wins in Morocco. Giuseppe Cipriani (Ibiza Racing Team) and Michele La Rosa (MLR71 by Euronova) hit the podium for the first time and they are looking forward to do the same in France. La Rosa is also standing third in points with 24 points, followed by Super Nova’s Michela Cerruti.
Team Virtuosi almost hit the podium last week with Andrea Roda and Sam Dejonghe and they will definitely try to accomplish the feature at Le Castellet. Hungarian Tamas Pal Kiss (Zele Racing) is also looking for some consistency after an awesome comeback from the last row to a podium finish in Race 2 at Marrakech, while Italian Kevin Giovesi, fielded by Eurotech Engineering, is aiming for a rebound. After having clocked the pole in Round 1, he had to retire twice and on what has always been a good track for him in the past, he will try to get his first top result of the season.
Japanese Yoshitaka Kuroda moved from Euronova to Zele. Another Auto GP rookie will be Niccolò Schirò, as the 2012 European Formula 3 Open Champion was called by Ibiza Racing team to partner Ciprani. It will be a comeback for Ricardo Teixeira, fielded on the third Super Nova car.
Once again, Kumho will provide teams and drivers with two compounds, medium and soft, respectively colored in white and yellow.
