Russell (Prema) tops Imola test
Imola track hosted last Tuesday and Wednesday two intense test days in which 11 Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS teams joined. Overall 24 drivers lapped, looking forward to the first venue of the Fast Lane Promotion Series scheduled on the same track on the 5-6 April weekend.
Briton George Russell (Prema) set the fastest time in the last session with 1:41.663, 635 thousands quicker than last year pole position of Antonio Fuoco. JD Motorsport’s Matevos Isaakyan – the Russian who races for the SMP Racing Program – topped on Tuesday with 1:42.235.
At the end of the second day, eight different teams were in the top 10. 16-year-old Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc (Fortec Motorsports) finished third ahead ot Italian rookie Matteo Cairoli (GSK Grand Prix) and Dario Capitanio, who recently extended his deal with the BVM Racing.
Singaporean Andrew Tang, who claimed the 2014 Toyota Racing Series‘ title, completed several laps with Jenzer Motorsport. Canadian Luke Chudleigh – at his second season with Tech 1 Racing – and his team mate Hugo De Sadeleer were among the fastest too, together with newcomers Alessio Rovera (Cram) and Honli Ye (Koiranen GP).
