Rueda and Saravia reopen championship
Andrés Saravia and Fran Rueda claimed the victory in the first race at Monza. BMW Team Teo Martín pair reopened the fight for the title and is now tied up in points and wins (three) with championship leader Mikkel Mac who finished fifth in the Luzich Racing Ferrari shared with Alessandro Pier Guidi.
The BMW duo success came after a great duel in the second stint between Rueda and Andrea Montermini, after poleman Daniele Di Amato led in the first part of the race with the RS Racing Ferrari.
Third was the Imperiale Racing Lamborghini Huracán GT3 of Riccardo Agostini and Rik Breukers, who had to recover from the back of the field after the Italian driver spun in turn 1 due to a contact with the sister car of newcomer Loris Spinelli. It was not a positive day for the Ivano Pignatti’s team, as Giovanni Venturini had to retire with fuel pressure problems and is now – together with Jeroen Mul – 20 points behind the leaders.
Making their debut in the series, Eddie Cheever III and Nicklas Nielsen took victory in the Pro-Am class with another Luzich Racing Ferrari, finishing ahead of the third Imperiale Racing Lamborghini shared by Liang Jatong and Raffaele Giammaria.
Marcío Basso and Guilherme Salas rounded BMW Team Teo Martín’s day by winning the Am class ahead of points leaders Andrzej Lewandowski and Giulio Bolenghi.
