Ramos, Chaves secure GT Open title

Miguel Ramos and Henrique Chaves claimed the International GT Open title, following a thrilling and dramatic finale at the Circuit of Montmeló in Barcelona. A late contact between the McLaren of leader Ramos and Vincent Abril, sent the Portuguese to the gravel and costed the Ferrari driver a ten-position penalty that gave the title to Ramos and Chaves. The result is to be considered provisional due to the appeals of AF Corse team.

The victory went to TF Sport Aston Martin of Salih Yoluc and Charlie Eastwood, ahead of Team Lazarus Bentley of Fabrizio Crestani and Yannick Mettler pairing. Christian Klien and Patrik Krupinski finished on the podium. The success in Pro-Am went to the Austrian-Polish duo, but was not enough to revert the title battle in the class, with Marcelo Hahn securing the honours after finishing fifth, together with Allam Khodair, in the other McLaren. That meant a third title this season for Teo Martín Motorsport. Mauro Ricci and Jérôme Policand, with the AKKA ASP Mercedes, doubled their success in Am after the Saturday’s win.
