Precote Herberth celebrates first victory
Robert Renauer and Mathieu Jaminet claimed the first 2018 ADAC GT Masters victory for Porsche. Precote Herberth Motorsport’s pair prevailed in Sunday’s race two at Zandvoort, after Jaminet secured his first pole position. This was Jaminet’s second success in the ADAC GT Masters and team-mate Renauer’s fifth.
Patrick Assenheimer and Raffaele Marciello finished second with the AutoArenA Motorsport’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 ahead of the other Porsche 911 GT3 R fielded by KÜS Team75 Bernhard for Adrien de Leener and Klaus Bachler.
Pole-sitter Jaminet took the lead at the start and gradually drew away from the pursuing bunch over the subsequent laps. Frenchman handed the car over to Renauer at the pit stop with a cushion of just under 2.5 seconds. The Bavarian likewise produced an error-free drive and took the chequered flag as the winner with a lead of 4.9 seconds at the end of the 35 laps.
Championship leaders Markus Pommer and Maximilian Götz finished fourth with the MannFilter Team HTP Motorsport‘s Mercedes, extending to eight points their gap over the second-placed Jaminet-Renauer.
“The race was perfect: pole position, fastest race lap and victory. You can’t ask for more than that“, said Jaminet, “Our car was very good today, and we didn’t make any mistakes. We are looking forward to the remaining races, but today, we’re going to celebrate.”
