Pons Racing to test with Move and Van Buuren
After a long winter pause, track activity is resuming for the Formula Renault 3.5 Series, as teams and drivers prepare for the first collective testing session of the 2014 season, which will take place at Motorland Aragón next week, 25-27 February.
Pons Racing will be back to the track as from today, Thursday 20 February, using the opportunity of the ECU testing time allowed to teams to fine-tune the engines, at the “Ricardo Tormo” circuit in Valencia. The team, which has worked extensively during the racing break both on the cars and on organizational aspects, will be testing two strong drivers, such as Daniil Move and Meindert Van Buuren, with whom negotiations for the 2014 season are well advanced.
Move (29, from Russia) has a long experience in the Formula Renault 3.5, having been one of the top contenders in the series in recent years. Van Buuren (19, from the Netherlands) is a promising rising stars who joins the World Series from the Auto GP.
We are pleased to be on the track again, as this is naturally what every racing team enjoys the most. As always, the winter months have been busy and intense. We have worked well and further strengthened our team with the adjunction of another top engineer such as Peter Berry, who will be instrumental to bring us upper in the hierarchy. The ECU tests give us an opportunity to be testing ahead of Motorland’s first official session. In Valencia we will have the opportunity of testing, from a technical and sporting point of view, the potential of Daniil and Meindert, with whom we are at an advanced stage of conversations for the season. – Emilio De Villota said.
