
Pizzitola dominates from the pole position
Manor MP Motorsport’s Andrea Pizzitola scored his maiden Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, as he dominated the second race at the Motorland Aragón circuit. The French driver – disqualified from qualifying the day before for not meeting the minimum fuel requirement – led from the pole position to finish ahead of Swiss Kevin Jörg (Josef Kaufmann Racing) and Brazilian Bruno Bonifacio (Prema Powerteam).
Nyck de Vries, who claimed the first win for Koiranen GP in Saturday race, finished just off the podium in fourth place. Dutchman set the second best lap of of his group in the morning qualifying and then managed to overtake Bonifacio for P3, but after a mistake the McLaren driver lost his chances of podium.
A contact between Aurélien Panis and team mate Callan O’Keeffe brought an end to the hopes of the two drivers, while Egor Orudzhev suffered a puncture after an other contact with Alexander Albon. It let Levin Amweg to finish fifth ahead of Simon Gachet, Anthoine Hubert, Dennis Olsen, Albon and Gustav Malja.
De Vries leaves the first event of the season as the provisional championship leader.
