Perfect weekend for Postiglione-Cecotto
It was the perfect weekend for Vito Postiglione and Jonathan Cecotto at Silverstone, as the Imperiale Racing duo secured the victories in round three and four of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe, taking the lead in the PRO class.
One year after he scored his first success in the one-make series, Postiglione shared the pole positions with VS Racing Japanese driver Yuki Nemoto to dominate from green to flag in race one with 17-year-old son of the former F1 racer Johnny Alberto. Nemoto and team mate Raphael Abbate finished second but were penalized for not respecting the minimum time during the driver change at the pit-stop and slipped third, delivering the second position to Loris Spinelli and Mikaël Grenier. Eventually the Antonelli Motorsport duo was excluded for a technical irregularity. Abbate and Nemoto then returned second, while 2017 Middle East champions Rik Breukers and Axcil Jefferies claimed the honour of the podium on a GDL Racing car.
In race two Nemoto maintained the first position in his first driving stint, leaving the wheel to Brazilian Abbate. With three minutes to go Postiglione did a stunning overtake, which enabled him to get in the lead and to remain there until the end. Artline Team Georgia’s Sergei Afanasiev and Gerhard Tweraser were third.
“Last year I got a first and a second place. This weekend, I really could not ask for more. The team provided us a perfect car. Jonathan did an amazing job, despite being at his second experience behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo.” – said Postiglione.
The next Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe event is scheduled on June 24-25 at the French circuit of Paul Ricard.
