Paul Rees set for Barcelona debut
This weekend Momo Megatron Team Partrax will field three Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars for the drivers Paul Rees, Nico Rindlisbacher and Egidio Perfetti in the first event of the new Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season in Barcelona.
The Luxembourgish-American team will field is contesting their fifth year in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. “We can’t wait,” said team boss Andreas Leberle, “and naturally we want to pick up points in Barcelona and celebrate a successful start. I feel that we are well positioned for the season opener.”
Last year, Paul Rees, son of the former Formula 1 driver Alan Rees, contested his first season in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, which saw him finish 15th in the overall standings. Inspired by his father, the 31-year-old made his debut back in 2003, in the British Formula Renault. The Brit entered the Porsche one-make series for the first time in 2014, when he finished third in the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain. He was eighth in 2015.
Nico Rindlisbacher will contest his first full season in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, as he made his debut last year at the season finale in Austin. The son of Swiss comedian and TV presenter René Rindlisbacher finished in 17th place in the second race. Like many of his fellow drivers, the man from Switzerland completed his basic training in karting and then switched to single-seater racing later. Over the last two years, Rindlisbacher has competed in Formula 4.
Egidio Perfetti also made his debut for Momo Megatron Team Partrax in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup last year. He finished in 16th place at the race in Monaco.
