Partrax go on the attack
MOMO Megatron Team Partrax will take to the Hungaroring in Budapest this weekend (28th-30th July). The Luxembourgish/American team will be represented in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, part of the Formula 1 support programme, by the drivers Paul Rees (31, Great Britain), Switzerland’s Nico Rindlisbacher (21) and Egidio Perfetti (42) of Norway. The trio at the wheel of the 485 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup will face strong international competition in the sixth round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.
The Hungaroring just outside the Hungarian city of Budapest is a classic on the race calendar: Since its first season in 1993, the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup has been held on the angular, demanding course every year. The winner of the first race on the 4.381-kilometre track back then was none other than subsequent Formula 1 world champion Mika Häkkinen. The Finn is the only VIP driver to win in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. Before that, he was the first to cross the finish line on his guest appearance in Monaco.
“We don’t have a flying Finn in the car in Budapest, but we are currently in second place in the B classification with our Norwegian Egidio Perfetti,” said team principal Andreas Leberle. At the last race in Silverstone, Egidio Perfetti clinched race victory in the amateur rankings. Paul Rees made up seven places after a mixed qualifying session at his British home race, and brought the car home in 17th place. Nico Rindlisbacher also made up a lot of ground and finished the race in 20th place out of 32 cars.
Last year, fans and drivers experienced good race conditions in Budapest, with temperatures of 26 degrees Celsius. “The track doesn’t have much room for overtaking manoeuvres, so we will be giving it our all in qualifying,” said Leberle. The sixth round of the championship will get underway at 11:30 a.m. local time on Sunday 30th July.
