Oregon Team set for ELMS opener
Oregon Team will make its debut in the European Le Mans Series for the opening round of the 6-event season this weekend, at the 4 Hours of Silverstone. The Italian team led by Jerry Canevisio and Giorgio Testa is set to campaign a brand-new Norma M30 LMP3 racecar.
Coming from the series’ preseason test session held at the end of March at Monza, Oregon Team is ready for the new challenge with the combination of Italian Davide Roda (Bronze) and two Silver drivers, 20-year-old Rome-based Dario Capitanio and 23-year-old Colombian Andrés Méndez.
The round at Silverstone will definitely be a great test in terms of the full season, but the goal is to do well straight away. The 5.9 kilometers of the Northamptonshire venue bring great memories to the Oregon squad including the double win secured in the 2015 Renault Sports Trophy with RS01, when Capitanio claimed two second places and then went on to secure the Prestige and Endurance titles.
“It’s finally time to go back on-track again.” – said Jerry Canevisio – “We are lining-up in the UK with the sole goal of completing the whole race distance which will also be the target for the early part of the season. We need to log as many laps as possible and our drivers need the same thing.”
