Nyck de Vries claims first pole position
Nick de Vries claimed at Imola the first pole position of 2014 Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS season for Koiranen GP. Dutchman set the fastest time of 1:46.059 with slick tires, as the track was occasionally affected by rain. Behind him Estonian Hans Villemi (Prema Powerteam) and Frenchman Simon Gachet (Arta Engineering) finished second and third respectively.
Villemi’s team mate Bruno Bonifacio topped the first session (Group A) ahead of Fortec Motorsports‘ pair Jack Aitken, Sebastien Morris.
Egor Orudzhev (Tech 1 Racing) suffered an engine problem. Welshman Matt Parry went on the gravel and brought a premature end to the session.
