New track record for Isaakyan in Spain
Matevos Isaakyan ended the two-day Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 official collective testing at Motorland Aragón, beating the 2011 Will Stevens‘ track record for the category. 16-year-old SMP-JD Motorsport‘s Russian driver set the fastest time of 1:54.728 on the second day, followed by Frenchman Anthoine Hubert (Tech 1 Racing) and British-Korean Jack Aitken (Koiranen GP). Isaakyan will race this year both in the Eurocup and Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS, in which he claimed the third final place in 2014 scoring two victories and seven podium finishes.
Louis Delétraz finished fourth for Josef Kaufmann Racing. The son of former F1 and GT driver Jean Denis Delétraz, finished second on day 1 behind Tech 1 Racing’s Simon Gachet, who set 1:55.663. Hubert, Norwegian Dennis Olsen (Manor MP Motorsport) and Belgian Max Defourny (Strakka Racing), rounded out the top 5 followed by Isaakyan and Fortec Motorsports‘ Ben Barnicoat. Almost 30 drivers took part in the test.
