Monza’s tests inaugurate 2017 season
The 2017 season of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe fired into action with the two-day official test at Monza. Over 25 cars and more than 40 drivers officially kicked off the ninth edition of one-make series.
In the PRO class the 17-year-old Venezuela’s Jonathan Cecotto made his debut at the wheel of the Imperiale’s Huracán Super Trofeo racecar. The son of the F1 and motorbike ace Johnny Alberto Cecotto, will team up with experienced Italian Vito Postiglione. The Middle East reigning champions Rik Breukers and Axcil Jefferies shared the wheel of GDL Racing‘s car.
On track were also the Konrad Motorsport pair formed by Hendrik Still and Paul Scheuschner, who will be entering the PRO-AM category. Italian Davide Roda shared the Antonelli Motorsport‘s Huracán Super Trofeo with youngster country fellow Kikko Galbiati. The same will field another car in the PRO class for Italian Loris Spinelli and the 24-year-old Canadian Mikaël Grenier. In the four practice sessions Spinelli set the second quickest time behind Jean-Laurent Navarro and Julien Briché (MN Development), who were the fastest with 1:47:387.
VS Racing entered a car for Brazilian Raphael Abbate and Japanese Yuki Nemoto.
