Mapelli puts the Lambo on pole at Misano
Marco Mapelli put the Attempto Racing Lamborghini Huracán GT3 on pole position in the opening round of the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup. The Italian was quicker than reigning champion Maxi Buhk in the HTP Motorsport Mercedes-AMG, with newcomer Raffaele Marciello third with the Akka ASP sister car.
Less than two tenhts of a second separated the fastest eight cars, with all 17 cars in Q3 ending up within the same second. Belgian Audi Club Team WRT R8 of reigning Sprint Cup champion Enzo Ide was out of the superpole, ending up in 18th.
Mapelli claimed his maiden pole position in the SRO Motorsports’ Championship and the first also for the German team Attempto Racing. Buhk was only 0.075 slower than Italian. The top-5 was completed by the the other HTP Motorsport Mercedes-AMG of Dominik Baumann – 2016 overall Blancpain GT Series champion – and the Strakka Racing McLaren of the reigning Endurance Cup champion Rob Bell.
