Malaysian Nabil Jeffri (Motopark), who set the second fastest time in the qualifying, charged up the field from the rear after a jump start that costed him a drive-through penalty. He finished sixth, scoring the new lap record of 1:20.460. Nikita Zlobin (SMP Racing by ADM Motorsport) went off into the gravel which resulted in his early retirement.
Nicolai Sylvest finished fourth for JBR Motorsport & Engineering, ahead of other Russian Sergey Trofimov. The first eight drivers will start into the second race in reverse-grid formation, with Amkon Motorsport’s Maximilian Hackl on pole.
The weekend has been perfect so far. I started from P1 and made no mistake. – said Pommer – However, it was definitely not boring, since I had Indy in my rear-view mirror the whole time. The car runs well and the team is doing everything right. We just need to continue like that.
