KTM takes surprise win at Red Bull Ring

KTM X-BOW GTX Concept of Reiter Engineering took the Race 1 victory at the Red Bull Ring as Stefan Rosina and Patric Niederhauser benefitted from a safety-car period before driver changes, which erased the advantage acquired by Fran Rueda, in the Teo Martín Motorsport’s McLaren 720S shared with Marcelo Hahn, eventually third overall and first among Pro-Am.

The other TMM McLaren of Miguel Ramos and Henrique Chaves took second in the closing laps but the Portuguese got away with the points of victory (as the KTM is a G3 car appearing as guest), extending their lead in the standings to 11 points on Louis Prette/Vincent Abril (AF Corse APM Monaco Ferrari), today 5th.

Behind Hahn/Rueda (with the Brazilian strengthening his lead in the class), the Pro-Am podium was completed by the debuting RAM Racing Mercedes-AMG of Sam De Haan/Callum Macleod and the Optimum Motorsport McLaren of Nick Moss/Joe Osborne.

In Am, the GetSpeed duo composed of Florian Scholze and Jens Lieberhauser controlled the race, taking a fourth seasonal win ahead of the other Mercedes of Alex Moiseev/Alexey Nesov (AKM Motorsport) and of Christian Hook/Manuel Lauck (SPS Automotive).
