Kjaergaard takes lead
Carlin’s Nicolai Kjaergaard is the early leader of the 2018 BRDC British F3 Championship. The Danish driver completed a strong season-opening weekend converting pole in a victory in the final race at a wet Oulton Park, after claiming his first podium in Saturday’s race one. Kjaergaard now holds an 18 point lead in the standings over race one winner Linus Lundqvist (Double R Racing).
Manuel Maldonado, the cousin of former Formula 1 driver Pastor, was the other Monday winner for Fortec Motorsports, as well as the first victor of British F3’s revolutionary new race two format.
Saturday hero Billy Monger secured ninth place from 14th on the grid in race two. Eventually he took the eight position in race three.
