Jewiss wraps-up British F4 title
Double R Racing’s Kiern Jewiss claimed the F4 British Championship crown at Brands Hatch over the last weekend, securing the Woking team its maiden title victory in the series. Wrapping-up the championship with two races to spare in round 28 at the Kent venue’s full-length Grand Prix Circuit on Saturday afternoon, 16-year-old Jewiss went on to secure a textbook lights-to-flag win in round 29 on Sunday morning and then finished sixth in the last race. He ends the season with six race wins and 18 podiums in total.
Elated to add a maiden British F4 crown to is multiple championship wins in Formula 3, Double R team principal Anthony Hieatt says the title victory is testament to the ultra-hard work of the team’s mechanics and engineers, as well as the immense skill and ability of star-in-the-making Jewiss. “This is what we’ve been working towards since the end of last season”, said Hieatt, “I am so proud of Kiern and all the boys at the team for doing such a fantastic job. It’s been a tragic and tough year with the loss of our beloved JJ [Wilson – chief mechanic], every win and podium has been for him and he is never far from our thoughts.”
“Obviously, Kiern has been outstanding all year“, Hieatt added, “We knew he was a great talent, but some of the performances he’s delivered this season have been incredible. It’s been fantastic working with him this year, he genuinely is one to watch for the future.”
