Honda dominates test session
The Honda Civic dominated the WTCC 30-minute test session at the Hungaroring track. Gabriele Tarquini (pictured) set the fastest time of 1:50.995 in front of team mates Mehdi Bennani and Tiago Monteiro. The fourth Civic of local Norbert Michelisz was placed in fifth, behind Tom Chilton, who clocked the fourth fastest time at the wheel of his Chevrolet RML Cruze.
The first of the Citroën drivers was Jose María López, who finished seventh. Hugo Valente’s Chevrolet and the other two Citroëns of Yvan Muller and Sébastien Loeb filled the positions from seventh to ninth, while the Lada Granta of Rob Huff rounded off the top-ten. With ten cars covered by only eighth tenths, this was the closest session since the beginning of the season. Tom Coronel managed to take part in his Chevrolet RML car that was rebuilt after the Marrakech accident and finished 13th. John Filippi was sidelined by electrical problems to his Seat León.
In the TC2T class, Franz Engstler’s BMW 320 TC posted the fastest lap of 1:56.792.
