Hamda Al Qubaisi takes maiden F4 UAE win
Hamda Al Qubaisi secured her first Formula 4 UAE victory at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi. The 17-year-old Abu Dhabi Racing female racer, after a convincing run yesterday which handed her another great podium finish, started her Saturday with a P2 in Race 2. It was an impressive run for her, recovering from the fifth place of the reverse grid and showing great consistency and control of the situation all around.
Then in Race 3, Hamda capitalized on yesterday’s pole position. She was eventually able to pull away from the pack and cross the finish line with a huge margin in P1. Hamda has thus successfully followed in the footsteps of her older sister Amna, who had previously won the opening event of the season in record-breaking fashion in the F1 Grand Prix weekend.
With today’s results, Hamda, who was later eliminated from race 4 due to contact, has climbed up to P4 in the championship. She is now set to try and keep her momentum rising for the two final rounds of the season which will be at Dubai Autodrome. The fourth and penultimate round of 2020 is already scheduled for next weekend and there are good expectations on the table.
