Gotz tops DTM testing first day

Maximilian Götz put the Haupt Racing Team’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 on top at the end of the opening day of DTM official test at the Hockenheimring. The German driver set the best time in 1m36.590s ahead his team-mate Vincent Abril who was 169 milliseconds slower.

With 17 cars on track, Kelvin van der Linde ended third in the ABT Sportsline’s Audi R8 LMS. The 19-year-old Liam Lawson finished fourth with the Ferrari 488 GT3 run by Red Bull AF Corse, while Nico Müller rounded out the top-5 in the Team Roberg‘s Audi.

Two-time DTM champion Marco Wittmann emerged as the fastest BMW driver to secure the seventh place with the Walkenhorst Motorsport‘s machinery behind the AlphaTauri AF Corse‘s Ferrari of Alex Albon.

Sophia Flörsch, the only woman to enter the DTM season this year, finished 14th in another ABT Sportsline’s Audi.

Constant snow in the afternoon stopped the action earlier than planned.
