Gitlin and Bianchi win Race 1 at Brno
Vadim Gitlin took the win for Kessel Racing in the first race of the Ferrari Challenge Europe Trofeo Pirelli at Brno. Russian racer starded from pole and finished in front of Raffaele Giannoni (Motor Piacenza) and Thomas Kukucka (Scuderia Praha-Dino & Co.). Alexander Martin took his maiden victory in the PRO category and was fourth, ahead of Italy’s Dario Caso who fought his way up the order and the Slovak Oknaj. On the first lap, the safety car had to come out immediately after Florian Merckx and Giacomo Stratta collided, fortunately without injury.
Italy’s Massimiliano Bianchi (Kessel Racing) was the fastest man on track in the Coppa Shell, leading from start to finish. He also set the fastest lap in 2:07.085. Right behind him was Belgian Jacques Duyver (AF Corse) and another Italian Eric Prinoth (Ineco-MP Racing) who still leads the Coppa Gentlemen.
