Double R Racing confirms Alvarez

Double R Racing confirmed Mexican teenager Sebastian Alvarez will return to the team for the 2019 F4 British Championship certified by FIA powered by Ford EcoBoost. Making his single-seater debut with Woking’s Double R in British F4 last year, Alvarez concluded the campaign fifth in the Rookie Cup battle with four podiums. In the overall championship, he ended his maiden F4 season in 12th position.

Delivering some highly impressive drives throughout 2018, Alvarez chalked up a total of 12 outright points results – including a best overall finish of sixth – and undoubtedly has the potential to be a true front-runner during the coming campaign.

It’s great to be back with Double R for my second season in British F4”, said the 16-year-old, “I really enjoyed my first year in the championship, we had some good results and I learnt a lot as well which I aim to put into practice. Double R is a fantastic team, they proved that by winning the title last year, and I’m confident we can make very strong progress together this season.

Alvarez arrived at Double R last year fresh from a strong karting career in Mexico, the USA and also at World Championship level. Winning multiple titles in the Americas, he stepped-up onto the world stage in 2016 where he competed in the CIK-FIA World Junior Championship. From there, he moved into the WSK Champions Cup and WSK Super Masters Series as well as dovetailing continued participation in the prestigious CIK-FIA World Championship and CIK-FIA European Championship.

Speaking on Alvarez’s welcome return to Double R, team principal Anthony Hieatt said: “We’re delighted to see Seb return as a Double R driver for 2019 and very much looking forward to working with him again this year. He made strong progress in his first season last year, and we’re sure he’ll continue to make big strides this season. There were some impressive performances last year, not least at Snetterton where he was top six and then a real standout drive in the pouring rain at Knockhill, so we know there is a huge amount of potential for Seb to be an outright podium contender in his second season with us.

Kent’s Brands Hatch Indy Circuit, Double R’s ‘home’ track, will be the venue for the season-opening British F4 races across the weekend 6th/7th April.
