Don Nichols has passed away

Don Nichols, the founder of the Shadow team, has passed away at the age of 92. The American, who was a soldier during World War II and Korea, died in California on Monday, August 21.

The Shadow brand became famous during the Seventies especially in Formula 1, Can-Am and Formula 5000. In the major championship, Shadow started 104 races and claimed only one victory at the 1977 Austrian Grand Prix with Alan Jones.

In 1981 Nichols sold his assets to Chinese Teddy Yip, owner of the Theodore team.
