Cerqui tops day 1 of pre-season test

Former WTCC racer and 2011 Superstars Italian Series Champion Alberto Cerqui (pictured) set the fastest time of 1:36.673 in the first day of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe pre-season test at Vallelunga. 21-year-old Italian, who was the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia runner-up in 2013, is almost to close an agreement with Composit Motorsport team for this season.

Expert driver Andrea Palma ended second for Imperiale Racing in both the sessions. Eventually he clocked 1:36.813 in the afternoon ahead of Bonaldi Motorsport’s Aristotelis Varvaroussis. Italian rookie Alberto Di Folco (17, also for Imperiale), who has under is belt only one season in the Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS and NEC, topped the timesheet in the morning session as he ended fourth overall ahead of his team mate Roberto Tanca.

Vincenzo Sauto, a veteran of the Ferrari Challenge, made his debut in the Eurotech’s car alongside Manuel Flaminio.
