Barwell doubles up at Oulton

Barwell Motorsport had a perfect start to the 2017 British GT Championship at Oulton Park, as John Minshaw and Phil Keen literally dominated the race weekend.

After scoring the second quickest lap in both qualifying sessions, Minshaw’s Lamborghini Huracán GT3 gained the lead in race one. Despite the pouring rain, the Barwell Motorsport driver managed to go away and gained twenty seconds before the pit window opening. During the second part of the race, Keen administered the leadership and lead the Barwell Motorsport’s Huracán GT3 to its first win of the season. The sister Lamborghini car fielded by the British team of Liam Griffin and Sam Tordoff, has also reached the second position, giving Barwell a well-deserved one-two, while TF Sport’s Aston Martin Vantage GT3 finished third.

Race two was held on a dry track. Started in second place behind the Parker Racing team’s Bentley Continental GT3, the Lamborghini #33 with Keen at the wheel was able to immediately take the lead, with a final part of the race conducted by the Safety Car but with no compromises for the victory of the Huracán GT3 ahead of the two TS Sport’s Astons.

Thanks to two wins at Oulton Park, the duo Minshaw-Keen now leads the championship with 50 points. Rockingham circuit will host the second event in the weekend of 29-30 April.
