
Auer claims the pole in Q1
Lucas Auer claimed the pole position for the fourth season round of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship at the Hockenheimring. 19-year-old Kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport driver set the best time of 1:32.387 and was just 0.118 seconds faster than Italian Antonio Giovinazzi (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin).
Edward Jones (Carlin) was classified third, followed by Max Verstappen (Van Amersfoort Racing). The Dutchman was the best-placed rookie, with 22 drivers within only one second. Next to Verstappen, Esteban Ocon also managed to impress for Prema Powerteam and finished fifth. Tom Blomqvist (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin), Nicholas Latifi (Prema Powerteam), Felix Rosenqvist (kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport), John Bryant-Meisner (Fortec Motorsports) and Jordan King (Carlin) rounded out the top ten.
