Alex Campani wins Race 2
Italian Alex Campani (Abarth 695 Assetto Corse Evoluzione) won the second race of the Trofeo Abarth Selenia Europe and the Abarth ACI-CSAI Selenia Trophy Italy held at the Mugello racetrack, ahead of his brother Maurizio and Swede hero Niklas Lilja, who keeps the lead in both standigs. Alex Campani, second overall, reduces a little bit the gap from the leader.
Since the green light, the fight between Emanuele Moncini and poleman Lilja has been more than ferocious, with the Campani brothers who managed to keep the third (Alex) and fourth position (Maurizio). After three laps Moncini took the lead, while Lilja and Maurizio Campani lost some positions. Alex was firmly second, while the battle for the third place starring Lilja, Luca Anselmi and Manuel Buffoli. Alex Campani and Lilja passed Moncini, while Anselmi entered the struggle for leadership. Two laps from the end, however, Anselmi went out of the track. In the meantime Maurizio Campani achieved the second place overall.
Among the Abarth 500 Assetto Corse, the second race in Tuscany offered another victory to Franco Cimarelli (10th overall), ahead of Finnish Jusso Pajuranta (11th) and Manuel Villa (12th).
Next round of the National ACI-CSAI Abarth Selenia Trophy Italy will take place on September 6th and 7th at Varano de’ Melegari. To follow both the Abarth Trophies will be on the Sicilian racetrack of Pergusa, on September 27th and 28th.
