AF Corse Ferrari wins 12H Italy-Mugello
Ferrari 458 driven by Felipe Barreiros, Ilya Melnikov and the father and son duo Aleksandr Talkanitsa Senior and Junior won the inaugural Dunlop 12H Italy-Mugello. The AF Corse‘s car, wich suffered electrical problems in the step 1, earned the victory through a tough battle with the Stadler Motorsport’s Porsche 997 GT3 R shared by Adrian Amstutz, Mark Ineichen, Marcel Matter, that had led for much of the day and eventually ended second.
The Hofor Racing’s Mercedes SLS of Eggimann-Frankenhout-Heyer-Kroll, after leading the first three hours on Friday suffered two punctures and finished third, ahead of the other Ferrari of Scuderia Praha (Jrilk-Pisarik-Waszek). Fach Auto Tech’s Porsche (Bruder-Wagner-Zolin) fought for the second place before a big loss of oil caused the car’s retirement.
Ruffier Racing’s Porsche of Gabriel Albergel, Paul and Patrice Lafargue topped the 997 class. Las Moras Team’s Renault Megane Trophy led for much of the race until its radiator was holed by a stone. GDL Racing completed the podium with Fecchio-Karmanov-Mapelli and Nial-Pilatti.
Team Nova Race won the SP3 class with a Ginetta G50 car shared by all-Italian crew Maurizio Copetti, Luca Magnoni and Luis Scarpaccio with Matteo Cressoni completing the line up on Saturday. The Reggio Emilia-based squad also celebrated the third place the other GT4 car shared by Christophe Capelli, Philippe Cimadomo and Jean-Pierre Lequeux as Bonk Motorsport’s Bmw M3 (Bonk-Liesette Braams-Burghardt) ended second. The Speedworks Motorsport‘s Ginetta had a long fight with Nova Race, until the English entry was delayed with a broken driveshaft.
The other winners are Miniberger-Paulavets-Vitek (RTR Projects Bmw M3, A5 class), Kovac-Lestrup-Tschornia (Besaplast Racing Mini Cooper, A2 class) and Onslow Cole-Whalker-White (KPM Racing Volkswagen (D1 class).
