16-year-old Isaakyan takes Race 1 win

Matevos Isaakyan managed to interrupt Nyck de Vries winning streak as he scored the Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS Race 1 victory at the Red Bull Ring racetrack. 16-year-old JD Motorsport‘s Russian driver took the pole position in a dramatic qualifying session, due to several penalties awarded for not respecting the track limits. He than managed to defend the lead for all the 16 laps completed.

Behind him finished the Koiranen GP duo made by George Russell and the same de Vries. The Dutch earned some more precious points for his Championship lead. The Monaco driver Charles Leclerc (Fortec Motorsports), always in the stream of the top three, ended fourth. Fifth was Canadian Luke Chudleigh for Tech 1 Racing.

Simon Gachet (Arta Engineering) was recovered from the last spot in the grid to 11th.
